CDA understands and is in full compliance with the 1996 HIPAA mandate requiring all "covered entities" to have a clear written statement of privacy policies and procedures to protect patient information.

Our Privacy Officer ensures that our staff is well versed in the policies and procedures with respect to protected health information, and that each patient has been given a copy of the practice's privacy policy. In addition, a copy of the practice's privacy policy is conspicuously posted near the reception station.

Under the new Privacy Rule, patients have the right to inspect and obtain a copy of protected health information about them for as long as the protected health information is maintained, with just a few exceptions. CDA has a method in place for patients to request and receive a copy of their entire medical record.
